VIBRANT BLOCK PANEL
About the work
Vibrant Blocks proposes growing living biological material, mycelium, as a non-toxic, compostable, building component. The mycelium hyphae are grown into custom molds that generate a fuzzy white surface intermingled with a hemp substrate, when dried, the block stiffens to a lightweight structural form.
Designed and fabricated by Sarah Strauss, AIA
Produced at Pratt School of Design Mycelium Lab with the support of the Dean Anita Cooney
