MIRROR I, II, & III
About the works
The mirrors series consists of cyanotypes on fabric and dichroic glass panels, depicting plants with roots immersed in water hidden behind a mirror, questioning the paradigm from viewing nature as an external entity. The cyanotype process, pioneered by botanist Anna Atkins, lends an ethereal quality to the botanical imagery, capturing the intricate details of the plants and their roots. The dichroic glass, an old technique redesigned by NASA for use in satellite mirrors to protect against intense sunlight and harmful radiation. It creates a mesmerizing mirroring effect that transforms the cyanotypes in sunlight and adds variations depending on angles and lighting conditions, revealing our inherent interconnectedness with non-human lives and elements.
